The I. E. Repin Estate Museum "Penaty" is located 45 kilometers from St. Petersburg, in the village of Repino (formerly Kuokkola) on the coast of the Gulf of Finland.
It was here that Ilya Yefimovich Repin (1844-1930) lived the last 30 years of his life and wished to be buried here. Opened in 1940 in the manor, the museum became one of the first memorial museums in the country under the auspices of the Russian Academy of Arts.
